18 years of helping older adults stay mobile and healthy...so far!

BFit & Well was founded in 2007 by Bonnie Murphy, a nationally certified fitness professional with a passion for empowering older adults. After serving as the fitness director at the Anchorage Senior Center for eight years - and being recognized as Alaska’s Fitness Ambassador in 2006 - Bonnie set out to create something even more impactful. She opened the original BFit & Well to expand fitness and community opportunities for Anchorage’s older adults.

Since then, Bonnie has helped countless members build strength, improve balance, and stay connected and confident through movement. Under her guidance, BFit & Well has grown from a small personal training service into a vibrant and welcoming community hub for functional fitness.

Now nearly 80 herself, Bonnie is still leading classes, offering personal training, and changing lives every day. She is an inspiration - a testament to the strength, energy, and possibility that older adults can embody at any stage of life. But her vision to empower older adults goes beyond just her own skills.
Therefore, in 2024, Bonnie began transitioning BFit & Well into a nonprofit organization to deepen its impact and reach even more people. That vision became reality in 2025, with the launch of BFit & Well Annex as an official nonprofit. Today, long-time and new members continue to enjoy Bonnie’s signature training expertise and warmth, while the organization grows to offer more classes, trainers, and services for Anchorage’s older adult community.
